Hernando's Life
Hernando was born in 1487 and he died on December 2, 1547. At the age of 14, Cortés was sent to study at the University of Salamanca in west-central Spain. In Hernando's time he studied law and Latin. Cortés was described by Gómara as restless, haughty and mischievous. those two years at Salamanca, plus his long period of training and experience as a notary, first in Seville and later in Hispaniola, would give him a close acquaintance with the legal codes of Castile that helped him to justify his unauthorized conquest of Mexico.
Contributions and Accomplishments Hernando did
Hernan Cortes is a Spanish conquistador who conquered the Aztec Empire. He also set sail to Mexico and ended up making a settlement, and allied with local cites. 3 months after the Aztec capital Tenochtitlan collapsed, he came back and had Mexico City built on top of it. In 1523, Cortes was named governor and captain of New Spain. Lastly, he discovered land and named it California.
